Abstract

To produce a quality product derived from good machining manufacturing processes, use of appropriate methods and tools is also a success factor to obtain a good product. In practice, the application of cutting elements, very influential on the quality and quantity of products. To reduce losses due to cutting tool wear is done by knowing the appropriate speed limit between the material of the cutting tool and the workpiece. The purpose of this study is to determine how much influence the speed of funeral and coolant in the drilling process on the wear of low carbon steel drill HSS (high speed steel) as well as the roughness of the resulting material. The method used in this study by using a spindle rotation speed of the drill machine with 1100 revolutions per minute rounds, while the variable speed funeral was 0.08 mm / rev; 0,04mm / rev and 0.15 mm / rev while using the drill bit from HSS materials and test specimens are low carbon steel SS 400 wear test method used is the analysis of heavy chisel, while the price of roughness in the test with a roughness tester. The conclusion of this study, the smallest value of the drill bit wear obtained at 1100 rpm rotation at the funeral of 0.08 mm / rev using coolant, the wear rate was 0.15 mm largest in the funeral / rev without using coolant. While the price of the smallest material roughness also get round 1100rpm at funeral of 0.08 mm / rev using coolant, the biggest being the price at the funeral roughness of 0.15 mm / rev without using coolant.
