Abstract
The rapid growth of motorized vehicles in Indonesia has caused increasing traffic problems, particularly at road intersections. This study aims to analyze the performance of an unsignalized intersection on the National Road of Pamekasan using the Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI, 2023). Primary data were obtained from field surveys, including traffic volume, intersection geometry, saturation flow, and side friction, while secondary data were collected from related agencies. The analysis results show that the intersection capacity is 3,129 pcu/hour with a traffic volume of 2,679 pcu/hour, resulting in a degree of saturation of 0.86. The average delay was 35.84 seconds/pcu, with a queue probability of 43.41%. Based on the PKJI 2023 criteria, the level of service (LOS) is categorized as E, indicating near-saturated flow with high delays. It can be concluded that the unsignalized intersection at the National Road of Pamekasan has poor performance; therefore, improvements such as the installation of traffic signals (APILL) and traffic engineering measures are recommended to increase efficiency and safety for road users.
