Lowokwaru, Kota Malang, Jawa timur 65153 Email: jimmy.jimmybrada@gmail.com ABSTRACT The need for electricity is increasing now. Geographical conditions in Indonesia actually can be utilized for establishing small-scale power plants commonly known as the Micro-Hydro Power Plant (MHP). Cross-flow turbines are the most appropriate form of turbines which can be used in the MHP. Efforts to meet these needs are directed towards the independence of electricity for the community through the achievement of electrification for the society. Indonesia has many energy resources that are environmentally friendly and renewable. This research was carried out by using a cross-flow turbine and measuring its force, velocity, and discharge. The research method used was an experimental method with a field-scale experiment using a set of cross-flow/impulse turbine. This research was conducted in Selorejo Hamlet, Sidorejo Village, Ponggok District, Blitar Regency, East Java. Based on the subject matter discussed, the author conducted a case study in the design of a cross-flow turbine which included calculation of its size, power analysis, velocity, and efficiency. The way it worked was by letting the water flow through the pipe entrance and was regulated by a propeller and into the turbine blade rotation. After the water passed through the turbine blade rotation, the water became at the opposite blade rotation. This is what provided additional efficiency. Finally, the water flowed from the casing, either freely or through a tube under the turbine. Keyword: Water turbine, Crossflow, Micro hidro power plant
