Abstract
Concerning the claim of Joglo Ponorogo as cultural products from other countries, as well as the need for the development of the nusantara architecture knowledge is the reason of this research. Joglo Ponorogo is owned by ordinary people that might be ignored is another motivation, whilst other Java's joglo owned by royal family. Another reason although decorative figure is a small part of the architecture figure, but its presence determines the identity of architecture, especially for traditional architecture. Decorative figure differentiated by pOSition, shape, pattern and decorative motif. By using eight samples of Joglo Ponorogo all the data were collected in the photograp forms. Such pictures data were grouped in eight elements: wuwungan, dadapeksi, gonjo, emprit gandil, santen, soko and tumpang sarif tumpang. After had been grouped they were compared and were analyzed the shapes, patterns, motifs and decorative method. It is found that the complexity of decoration and the position of ornaments indicated the quality of the building and demonstrated the economic level of the owner. DeCoration as an aesthetic element is presented in the form of decorative proportions with additional elements and decorations. The decoration is mostly carved with floral motifs in symmetrical patterns. Creating and installing is the method of making decorations.
