Abstract

RANCANG BANGUN MESIN PENCACAH RUMPUT GAJAH PRODUKTIVITAS 1000 KG/JAM Agung Prakoso R. (15.11.070) Jurusan Teknik Mesin S-1, FTI – Institut Teknologi Nasional Malang Jl. Raya Karanglo KM. 2, Tasikmadu, Kec. Lowokwaru, Kota Malang, Jawa Timur 65153 Email : agungprakosoroshadi@gmail.com ABSTRAK Rumput gajah merupakan rumput potong yang tumbuh tegak membentuk rumpun dengan tinggi kurang lebih 2 m yang digunakan untuk pakan ternak dan dapat ditanam di areal tanaman pangan. Daerah kecamatan Lawang kabupaten Malang merupakan daerah yang cocok untuk ditanami rumput gajah, dan banyak peternak sapi yang menanam dan membudidayakan rumput gajah tersebut untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pakan ternaknya. Faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan meningkatkan produktivitas penyediaan pakan hijauan baik secara kualitas dan kuantitas. Peternak mencampur rumput gajah dengan pakan tambahan seperti bekatul, ramuan, sentrat, ketela, ampas tahu dan lainnya untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas pakan ternak. Peternak berinisiatif mencampurkan rumput dengan pakan tambahan untuk menghemat biaya. Rumput harus dipoton-potong (dicacah) terlebih dahulu sebelum dicampur dengan pakan tambahan, agar dalam proses pencampuran mudah dilakukan. Rumput yang sudah dirajang kemudian dicampur dengan bekatu, potongan ketela, sentrat, sedikit ramuan, garam dan diberi air secukupnya sesuai takaran. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa untuk menghasilkan produktivitas 1000 kg/jam maka dibutuhkan putaran sebanyak 600 kali putaran/menit. Untuk system transmisi mesin pencacah rumput gajah ini menggunakan sabuk –V dengan tipe A dengan panjang sabuk 1422 mm. Kekuatan rangka pada mesin pencacah ini dinyatakan aman karena hasil perhitungan kekuatan rangka lebih kecil dibandingkan factor keamanannya yaitu sebesar 11.437 kg/mm ≤ 21.000 kg/mm, maka rangka tersebut dinyatakan aman. Kata kunci : rumput gajah,mesin pencacah rumput gajah,kekuatan rangka ABSTRACT Elephant grass is cut grass that grows upright to form a clump with a height of approximately 2 m which is used for animal feed and can be planted in the area of food crops. Lawang district of Malang regency is an area suitable for planting elephant grass, and many cattle ranchers who plant and cultivate elephant grass to meet the needs of animal feed. Important factors that must be considered are increasing the productivity of providing forage feed both in quality and quantity. Farmers mix elephant grass with additional feed such as rice bran, herbs, sentat, cassava, tofu pulp and others to improve the quality and quantity of animal feed. Farmers take the initiative to mix grass with additional feed to save costs. The grass must be chopped (chopped) before mixed with additional feed, so that the mixing process is easy to do. Chopped grass is then mixed with bekatu, yam, centrat, a little concoction, salt and given enough water according to the dose. The results of this study indicate that to produce 1000 kg / hour productivity, 600 rounds / minute are needed. For the transmission system of this elephant grass chopper uses a V-belt with type A with a belt length of 1422 mm. The strength of the frame on this chopper was declared safe because the result of the calculation of the strength of the frame was smaller than the safety factor of 11,437 kg / mm ≤ 21,000 kg / mm, so the frame was declared safe.
