Abstract

This paper presents the software development by incorporating the Winlog SCADA software and the Delphi program to implement the optimization technique in Smart Grid. The approach exploits the benefits of the SCADA software in developing the human machine interface and the Delphi program in calculating the optimization algorithms. A Modbus TCP/IP protocol is adopted for the data exchange between them. A linear programming technique is employed to minimize the daily electricity cost of the smart home appliances that are supplied by the grid and the renewable energy resources. The experimental results show that the longest execution time of 2.884 minutes is achieved to solve the linear programming technique, which is suitable for real-time implementation of the given optimization problem. Further, the visualization of the system’s parameters developed by the Winlog SCADA could be used to monitor the Smart Grid effectively.
