Abstract

ABSTRACT River water pollution occurs with having physical change, chemical and biology inside the water. More and more developing industries in watershed, such as: abattoir industry, definite with having wastewater will pollute the environment. Wastewater that produce contain physical and chemical parameters are total suspended solid (TSS) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) that can pollute the environment and very dangerous if contain with higher concentration. Because of that, needs appropriate wastewater treatment system such as Sub Surface Flow System Wetland (SSFSW). In this research, using continuous flows with utilization of Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) plant species with density plant variations were 90 mg/cm2, 100 mg/cm2, and 110 mg/cm2 and higher media were refine sand 5 cm, coarse sand 10 cm and gravel 15 cm as media plant also detention time variation were used 3 and 5 days. Objective of this research is to understand the efficient reactor Sub Surface Flow System Wetland (SSFSW) with density plant variations, and to understand influence of detention time and density plant to reduce TSS and COD contents in abattoir wastewater. Reactors Sub Surface Flow System Wetland (SSFSW) with Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) density plant 110 mg/cm2 in 5 days detention time able to reduce TSS concentration as big as 89,91 % and COD as big as 87,75 %. Key words: APH Wastewater, Cattail (Typha Angustifolia), COD, Sub Surface Flow System Wetland, and TSS.
