Abstract
Roads are the basic infrastructure that humans need to be able to move from one location to another in order to meet needs. However, in general the roads were damaged before they reached the design age. Road damage sometimes occurs due to the asphalt mixture compaction process carried out in the field not at the right temperature due to temperature changes, this often occurs during the process of transporting the mixture from the Asphalt Mixing Plant (AMP) to the spread location and also the weather factor. This research was conducted to determine the effect of temperature variations on the compaction process of AC-WC concrete asphalt using the Marshall test and referring to the 2018 Highways Specifications. The aspect required for testing in identifying and analyzing the temperature in the compaction in the field is the temperature variation in the laboratory by analyzing the Marshall parameter results in order to obtain the optimum temperature which can be applied in road works. Marshall specimens will be made using materials from Danurejo Village, Pasuruan District, Lumajang Regency, East Java with 60/70 penetration asphalt with Pertamina as a form of hot asphalt mixture. After checking the ingredients, the aggregate composition that meets the requirements for the AC-WC mixture is sought. So that the best asphalt composition is obtained. With the composition of the best asphalt content, the test specimens were made with temperature variations of 110ºC, 115ºC, 120ºC, 125ºC, 130ºC for each specimen, then analyzed the relationship between temperature variations and Marshall quantities. The results of the study show that the laston AC-WC mixture the effect of temperature variations is determined by the Marshall value with a temperature range that meets the specifications for the AC-WC mixture, namely 110 ºC - 130 ºC with the optimum temperature being 121 ºC.
