Abstract
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, through its Fuel Terminal Manokwari, plays a key role in ensuring the smooth distribution of fuel oil (BBM) in the West Papua region. Maintenance of the pertalite pump machine has so far been largely corrective, with repairs carried out only after component failure, resulting in downtime that disrupts fuel distribution operations. This study aims to determine the maintenance interval for the pertalite pump machine in order to reduce the risk of downtime at Fuel Terminal Manokwari through a risk-based Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach. The methods used include Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify critical components based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to trace root causes of failure, and Weibull distribution analysis to determine failure patterns and establish the inspection interval based on the reliability function. The results show that the mechanical seal is the critical component with the highest RPN value of 300, with failure causes influenced by human, machine, operational, and environmental factors, leading to surface damage and leakage in the pump. The RCM task selection results recommend a condition directed (CD) action in the form of inspection and condition monitoring. The Weibull distribution analysis yields a shape parameter (β) of 2, indicating a wear out failure pattern, with a scale parameter (η) of 40.75 hours. Based on a minimum reliability standard of 85%, the optimal inspection interval was found to be 14 hours of operation (rounded to 2 operating days according to the company's work schedule), corresponding to a reliability value of 88.87%. Implementation of this maintenance interval is expected to reduce downtime risk and improve the reliability of the pertalite pump machine at Fuel Terminal Manokwari.
